About me

My name is Will Flavell. I retired more than a decade ago, but there is something I can’t get out of my mind.
Soon after the calendar flipped to 2025, I stood in my office surrounded by computers and technology. I had decided to start a new career as a digital artist. What? Why? Had I lost my mind? Maybe. Read on.
I was born to a family with deep artistic roots just after the Second World War. I grew up with my mother's delicate watercolours, my great-grandfather's charming oil paintings, and my great-great-grandfather’s extraordinary wood carvings.
From thirteen years old, I worked evenings and weekends to save money for paints and brushes, crafting pieces that laid the foundation for my artistic rebirth more than sixty years later. Art is ingrained in me. I cannot escape it.
Humans have been making art for a long time, maybe over 60,000 years. Art is ingrained in all of us to some degree. I made the piece shown below to illustrate the idea of the universality of art. I called it Art Survives. It shows a dystopian scene where everything is neglected and damaged, but a single giant work of art survives.

Art Survives by Will Flavell
I began creating digital art in early 2024; now, after making way more than 1,000 pieces, I’ve found some styles I love, and I’m ready to show my work to others.
I built this website to present my work to the world and to engage in discussions about my art, and art in general. There is much to discuss, especially my choice of art-making tools. Head to my blog to engage.
If you love my work, you can buy prints here. If you do, I will do my utmost to ensure the quality of printing and framing, and the experience of buying and owning my work is thrilling. And, to help maintain the value of your purchases, I will strictly limit the number of prints of each piece. In some cases, I will make only five prints.
I don’t have a company or a team. It’s just me, Will Flavell, my art and my desire to rekindle a 60-year-old flame. Enjoy.
